Bovary basis of talk

Dr. René Prieto will be teaching a class on Gustave Flaubert’s Madame Bovary at the Dallas Institute on Jan. 15. This class will focus on Madame Bovary, considered by many “the first modern woman” in literary history. Dr. Prieto will examine Bovary’s formative years in an attempt to determine what Flaubert had in mind when he cast a romantic dreamer as the centerpiece of his realist classic. The Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture is located at 2719 Routh St. in Dallas. Visit dallasinstitute.org for more information. — Nancy Black
