During a misty rain on Friday, Jan. 10, members of the JL Long Middle School family, students, teachers, parents and administrators gathered to honor one of their own with a scheduled balloon release. The balloon release was in honor of Ms. Wilma King, who passed away on December 19. A total of 40 purple balloons were released in honor of her 40 years with Dallas ISD. Purple was King’s favorite color. She served JL Long as an assistant principal since 2010. King will be remembered fondly as a disciplinarian who had a heart for every child she encountered and a smile every time you saw her.

RIP, Ms. King!
