Girl Scouts Troop 1906 has been serving their local community for more than 30 years. Michelle and Majorie Burrell are two of the current troop leaders. Majorie has been a troop leader for the entire 30 years. The group recently hosted a 30-year reunion with events happening the entire weekend, including a Meet and Greet event.

New Mount Zion Baptist Church Life Center, which has provided the troop with meeting space free of charge for the past 30 years, featured past leaders, current leaders and alumna from the past 30 years to reconnect with one another. Volunteer Coordinator at Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas Monica Fletcher spoke briefly at the meet and greet, thanking Majorie for her dedication to Girl Scouting. Saturday featured a community service project where the troop planted flowers for spring and played bingo with the residents of a local nursing home. Majorie and one of the troop’s current Girl Scout members gave a short thank you speech to the church on Sunday, bringing awareness to Girl Scouting and the opportunities it provides.
