Ensemble Bella starts off new season

Concerts at St. John’s Episcopal Church presents Ensemble Bella in a performance of American music on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 3 p.m. The featured work is “I Remember” by Michael Cohen with libretto by Enid Futterman, based on “Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl.” Also on the program are “Ashokan Farewell” by Jay Ungar, “American Folk Song Trio” by Dewey Owens, “The Nightingale” by Deborah Henson Conant and “I Bought Me a Cat” by Aaron Copeland, arranged by James Higgins.

Ensemble Bella is comprised of (pictured from left to right) James Higgins, cellist and arranger; Sydney Howell, harpist; Laurel McConkey Allen, mezzo soprano and harpist; and Mary Shinn, flutist. All four acclaimed musicians perform and teach extensively throughout the DFW area.

The concert is free and open to the public, with a reception to follow. St. John’s Episcopal Church is located at 848 Harter Rd. in Dallas.
