French Toast Sticks

2 eggs

1 cup milk

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

8 slices sandwich bread, each cut into 4 sticks

3 tablespoons butter, or as needed

Syrup or powdered sugar, for serving

In a pie plate or baking dish whisk together eggs, milk, salt, vanilla and cinnamon. Dip bread into mixture a few at a time, turning to make sure both sides of bread are well-coated.

Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a large skillet.

Working in batches, place bread sticks in skillet and cook until golden browned on each side, about 3 minutes. Repeat with remaining butter and sticks. 

Serve warm with syrup or powdered sugar.
