Grant jumpstarts projects

By Rev. Mitchell Boone

The Partners Council of Owenwood Farm & Neighbor Space and the Leadership Team of White Rock United Methodist Church are excited to announce a three-year grant from the QuadW Foundation to further their work in far East Dallas.

The QuadW Missional Interns have partnered for the last four years with White Rock UMC, working with youth and families in the Owenwood community. QuadW supports the efforts to develop a full-service campus addressing the causes/effects of poverty in the 75228 ZIP code of far East Dallas in four key service gaps: recreation, education, food and medical deserts.

The $250,000 per year grant will jumpstart our renovations so that our incredible community partners: Hope Supply Co., Diapers, Etc., White Rock Community Church, Dallas United Crew, Simple Church, North Texas Food Bank, Aberg Center for Literacy, Linden Grove Theatre Co., Grow North Texas and Ferguson Road Initiative can continue their programs and expand services for our neighbors.

This grant will also help realize the dream of new partnerships to create programs for senior neighbors, a large community garden, as well as after-school programming for the students of Conner Elementary.
