Heroes for Children riding virtually

By Michael Martin

For the eighth consecutive year, The General’s Guard is holding its non-stop 24-hour bicycle relay rally to raise money for Heroes For Children (HFC), a remarkable Texas non-profit that provides vital financial and social assistance to families with children fighting cancer. HFC needs funds more urgently than ever now because COVID-19 has forced cancellation of some of their largest fundraising events and, because of the economic downturn, they are facing greater than ever demand for their services.  During the past 16 years, HFC has made a real impact by giving $6M to 6,000 Texas families.

The 2020 twist on our ride: Because of social distancing, we will ride at home on our trainers (rather than around Dallas’ jewel, White Rock Lake) continuously — as always — for 24 hours in 1-hour shifts from 5 pm Friday, May 22 to 5 pm Saturday, May 23.

Please donate today as best you can. With a gift of $25 or more, we will give you a Zoom login so you can join to cheer the riders along or even ride along with us with your trainer and laptop! And if you are a cyclist and would like to join us to fundraise, let us know and we will set you up.  We want you and friends all over the state of Texas, the country and the world to join in to make this super impactful for HFC’s families in very challenging times.

One hundred percent of the money goes straight to Heroes For Children’s activities. Imagine how your gift this year will make a real difference to a family suffering the horrific trauma of a kid with cancer while also navigating the pandemic and a very difficult economic downturn.

The 2020 edition of our non-stop 24-hour rally is like no other. Please don’t delay, give right now via this link to the HFC donor site.

Thank you for your support!
