Mockingbird Elementary’s annual Fall Carnival is set for Sept. 28 this year. It’s a festive community event held to kick off the new school year. The day will be filled with fairground rides, pony rides, face painting, games and more. There will be music to enjoy and food for purchase from Chick Fil-A, Piggie Pies and Grub Burger along with cold sweet treats provided by Steel City Pops and Botolino Gelato. Proceeds from the Fall Carnival support the more than 600 students at Mockingbird Elementary, including the approximately 45 deaf or hearing-impaired students from around the City of Dallas. Funds raised go directly to support improvements and equipment in computer technology, music and fine arts, as well as classroom and library supplies. All families in the community, and especially families with young children interested in the school, are encouraged to attend and enjoy the carnival. The event is from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on the school grounds. For more information, visit mockingbirdpta.com. — Casey Fisher-Parkes
