Public invited to design wine labels at event

By Susan Armanovs

The Dallas Farmers Market is partnering with wineries from across the state to offer premium wine tastings made from the Texas grape harvest. Texas Wine & Cheese Tasting will be held in The Shed on Saturday, January 19 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tickets are $35 and a limited number are on sale now.

Texas Wine & Cheese Tasting promotes the Texas wine and cheese industries with 10 award-winning Texas wineries, each offering two selections from their stock. Along with the 20 samples, tasters will receive a commemorative glass for sipping and to take home. Texas artisan cheese makers will offer cheese boards, priced separately, creating the perfect pairing.

Besides tastings, there will be judging by prominent downtown chefs, educational activities, live music, warm fire pits, food concessionaires and more. Attendees are encouraged to bring their market bag as the weekend market will be in full swing, with farm fresh produce, meats, eggs, and handmade jewelry, cards, bags and other items.

The public is also invited to design a unique wine label for submission in the Wine Label Contest. Labels will be displayed at the event for judging by attendees for best in 10 categories: Winter Label, Summer Label, Winery Name, Most Unique Art, Most Colorful, Texas Inspired Theme, Vintage Inspired Design, Representation of Community, Modern Design and Overall Best. Winners will be awarded a bottle of wine from the event.

The Texas Wine & Cheese Tasting is local, hand-crafted and brought to you with care. The Dallas Farmers Market is located at 1010 S. Pearl Expressway in Dallas. More details on the event are available at dallasfarmersmarket.org/event/texas-wine-cheese-tasting/.
