Dallas Public Library, the Office of Arts and Culture and Deep Vellum have  launched a Dallas Poet Laureate program to appoint the first Poet Laureate of Dallas in April 2022. Duties of the paid appointment will include working with the Express Yourself! Youth Poetry Competition, collecting literary works that commemorate Dallas, organizing literary workshops, classes and events and holding regular office hours at the Central Library. Other efforts to excite discussion, exchange and participate in poetry, and to engage readers on the culture of written and spoken word in Dallas are encouraged.
