Service work part of adventures in Costa Rica

While many students stay close to home for Spring Break, some desire to be more adventurous, such as traveling to a foreign country to explore a vastly different culture. Eleven freshman Spanish students from Lakehill Preparatory School, accompanied by Spanish teacher Joan Mayo and art teacher Scott Boles, experienced a 10-day adventure of a lifetime in Costa Rica. The trip highlighted the culture, natural beauty, flora and fauna, food and outdoor activities of this amazing country. Lakehill students also carried out two community service projects. They visited a local school where they interacted with elementary school students and provided them with Lakehill T-shirts. They also purchased groceries and supplies and delivered them to three families of children with cystic fibrosis. — Gigi Ekstrom
