Thank you, Mr. Kotter!

By Nancy Black

I can’t get the theme song out of my head. I haven’t seen the show in years, but I can sing you the theme song right now:

Welcome back! Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back!

It’s from an old ’70s TV show called, “Welcome Back, Kotter,” and was written by composer John Sebastian.

The reason I have that song in my head is because I am so excited to be working on our community newspaper! The Shelter in Place orders back in March and the ensuing COVID-19 pandemic made it impossible to print our beloved weekly. Most of our team members, including me, are in high risk groups for one reason or another. Plus, most of our distribution locations closed temporarily or were not allowing foot traffic in their businesses.

But all that has changed now. We haven’t flattened the curve yet, but we’re getting close and we are raring to go!

White Rock Lake Weekly would like to start back up by saying THANK YOU to all our loyal readers, advertisers and community members. We have definitely been “in this together.”

Thank you to the Google News Initiative team for awarding WRLW with a grant. They truly believe in our Little Newspaper That Could and are providing our team with the tools needed to move forward during these challenging times. We’d also like to thank the City of Dallas’ Small Business Continuity Fund and DFW Lift Fund, which we won through the city’s lottery system! We are forever grateful for their continued support and mentorships.

Please start sending your stories, pictures and special events to the paper at [email protected]. We love community submissions and we are ready to welcome you back.

Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back!
