On Oct. 15 in Samuell-Grand Park after the final performance of “Hamlet,” with an all-female cast, Shakespeare Dallas (SD) celebrated the end of its milestone 50th anniversary. The Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce held a special bench dedication ceremony for its founder, Bob Glenn, and a ribbon cutting ceremony as the nonprofit’s supporters look forward to the next half century of theater as a company poised for future growth. Executive Director Raphael Parry was also honored for his 20 years with the company. Using Shakespeare’s works as a cornerstone, SD’s mission is to bring fun and accessible indoor and outdoor theatre, integrated school programs and cultural enrichment to people of all ages and backgrounds. — Nancy Black
