Strauss Square focusing on local arts groups

The AT&T Performing Arts Center successfully reopened its doors Friday night with a sold-out performance in Strauss Square of an Elevator Project production of Memorias Flamencas presented by Flamenco Fever. The Elevator Project is a Center program that supports small and emerging arts groups with performance space and resources on its campus in the Dallas Arts District.

Most audience members were seated within socially-distanced squares painted on the lawn for the lively performance. Patrons, staff and artists were all following new COVID-19 safety protocols including the requirement to wear protective face masks, except when seated in their spaces on the lawn. The Center has also moved towards touch-free experiences with the show programs, and encouraging all patrons to pre-order, pre-pay and bring food and beverages. The Center reopened Strauss Square at a reduced capacity to help bring back live, in-person performances with a focus on local arts organizations. A number of groups have scheduled performances and performance-based fundraisers through the fall. Visit attpac.org for more information. — Caroline Crocker
