Investment in new equipment, facilities upgrades, expanded clinical programs and enhanced community engagement are among the highlights of White Rock Medical Center’s impact in the local community in 2021.
Published this week and posted online, the medical center’s 2021 Community Impact Report describes key accomplishments of the past year — all achieved while facing the challenges of the ongoing pandemic.
In the report, White Rock Medical Center’s Governing Board Chair Dr. Richard May said the recent renaming of the center formerly known as City Hospital at White Rock comes at a time when the facility has truly reached medical center status — offering excellence in clinical care in a variety of specialties.
“The recent announcement of our hospital’s new name comes with heightened excitement and commitment to serving our community — healing the sick and keeping the healthy well,” he wrote.
Among the highlights of the past year, White Rock Medical Center:
• Welcomed a seasoned Chief Executive Officer, Matt Roberts, to lead the medical center into a period of growth and revitalization.
• Planned for launching the new name — White Rock Medical Center — with external and internal communications and celebration of this historic moment for the community.
• Kept the hospital doors open during the COVID-19 pandemic — thanks to dedicated staff and physicians — continuing to care for patients with COVID-19 while caring for other patients, too.
• Acquired two new surgical robots — the Intuitive da Vinci Xi 4-arm robot for bariatrics, gynecology and general surgeries and the Zimmer Biomed ROSA Knee System for total knee replacement. Both are used for minimally invasive surgery, affording less blood loss and faster recovery.
• Renovated a unit of 48 inpatient rooms and the accompanying nurses’ station, creating beautiful, comfortable space for healing.
“We are proud of our employees and physicians who continue to demonstrate compassion for and commitment to our surrounding community,” said CEO Matt Roberts.
“This has been an exciting year of investment and revitalization to enhance our care to the patients we serve, and there is more to come with new physician expertise on board, new technology and renovated facilities.”
Recently, the hospital launched a monthly, digital newsletter with information for keeping the community healthy. Interested individuals may request a free subscription to Health Connection by emailing White Rock Medical Center at [email protected].
