Virgilio Sanchez, 87, of Dallas, passed away on May 3.
Virgilio was born in McAllen to Juan and Felipita Sanchez on April 9, 1931. He went to McAllen High school. Virgilio married Esther Romero in Dallas, 1956. He attended Pan AM university in Edinburg, Texas, where he studied electrical engineering. Virgilio worked at E-Systems, Swearingen, Murray Company and Ratheon, leaving in 1979. He then opened Goldrush Café in May of 1980 with the vision of good food at reasonable prices with a family atmosphere where everybody knows your name.
Virgilio was a veteran of the Korean War where he served honorably in the United States Marines corp. He was a devout catholic whose generosity and good nature brought smiles and admiration from family and friends. He will be sorely missed and remembered through all his best qualities. Faith, family and friends were what was most important to him.
Virgilio is preceded in death by his wife Esther of Dallas and his mother, father and sister, Helen of McAllen, TX. Virgilio is survived by Virgil Jr, John and Liz Sanchez, George and Brenda Sanchez, Mark Sanchez, and daughter Liz and Kevin Birdwell, all of Dallas. The family of Virgilio Sanchez wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Lerner.
Rosary was on Tuesday, May 8 at Calvary Hill funeral home. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 9 at Calvary Hill funeral home. Catholic mass and burial followed at Calvary Hill cemetery.
