Season begins with debut of new singers

The Dallas Opera begins its 2024/2025 season with Verdi’s enduring classic, “La traviata,” which opens on Friday, Oct. 18 at 8 p.m., with four additional performances throughout the month. Verdi’s dramatic grand opera features The Dallas Opera debuts of Chilean soprano Yaritza Véliz, as Violetta, and Mexican tenor Javier Camarena as the lovesick Alfredo. Baritone Alfredo Daza returns to TDO to sing the role of Giorgio Germont in this co-production with The Santa Fe Opera, directed by Louisa Muller and conducted by Iván López Reynoso, both in their TDO debuts. In the October 27 performance, soprano Sara Gartland sings the role of Violetta and tenor Bekhzod Davranov makes his debut as Alfredo.
