Comedy club to help start New Year with laughter

Start the New Year with a laugh at “Backdoor Comedy’s New Year’s Eve Comedy Bash with Paul Varghese & Friends,” Wednesday, Dec. 31. The club’s annual comedy event, now it it’s 19th year, has become a DFW tradition and is still the hot ticket for North Texas New Year’s Eve celebrations. The Backdoor will present two shows, one at 8 p.m. and one at 10:30 p.m. Back by popular demand is headliner Paul Varghese (pictured) from Comedy Central and Showtime. He has a new comedy special that premiered on YouTube recently called “As I Was Saying,” plus a new album coming out next summer. Varghese is one of the hottest comics in the country and a hometown favorite, and has appeared on Comedy Central, NBC and Showtime. Also appearing with other Backdoor Comedy favorites is Emmy Award winner and Funniest Comic in Texas champion comedienne/filmmaker Linda Stogner. Stogner was a semi-finalist at the prestigious Seattle International Comedy Competition and the Boston Comedy Festival.
