Winners get work published in anthology

Dallas Public Library celebrated young creatives at the Express Yourself! Youth Poetry Competition and Cover Art Contest award ceremony on Thursday, April 23. Jaswanth UdayaKumar, a second-grade student at Uplift North Hills Preparatory, and Carlos Guzman, a fifth grader at Daniel Webster Elementary School, were honored with the Joe M. Dealey and Dorris Russell Dealey Award of Achievement. UdayaKumar was recognized for his cover art submission, which will be used as the front cover of the Express Yourself Poetry Anthology, while Guzman won for his poem, “El sueño inmigrante.” Each of them received a $500 award.
