In Memoriam Margaret Ann Shaughnessy

November 7, 1957 – May 6, 2026

With deep sadness and profound love, the family of Megan Shaughnessy announces her passing this past month.

Megan was larger than life in the most beautiful ways; vibrant, funny, loyal, stylish, stubborn, generous, and endlessly loving to her family and friends. She had a rare gift for making people feel welcomed, included and remembered. Whether hosting legendary pool parties, gathering friends for happy hour, or organizing book clubs that became more than conversations about books, Megan brought people together effortlessly. She created connection. She created joy. She created family out of friendship.

Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Megan graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science degree before building an accomplished and respected career in broadcast and media sales.

Throughout the years, she worked with numerous respected media organizations, including CBS Radio Q102 and KLUV, ABC/Disney KSCS, Time Warner Cable Media Sales, Citadel Broadcasting KPMZ, and Reach Media, where she served as Digital Sales Area Manager. Megan’s talent, charisma and relentless work ethic earned her countless awards and accolades throughout her career.

Outside of work, Megan loved deeply and collected beauty everywhere she went. She traveled the world, adored animals and especially cherished her beloved parrots and dogs. In the home, her family has discovered hundreds of treasured photographs, handwritten cards saved over decades, meaningful keepsakes from every chapter of her life and enough Buddha statues to create a museum.

Megan is survived by her daughters, Elliese Shaughnessy (Skyler Chapman) of Vero Beach, Fla., and Amelia Shaughnessy (Connor Webber) of Richardson, Texas; her granddaughter, Emma Rose Shaughnessy; her brother, Richard Shaughnessy (Ulla) of Tulsa, Okla.; and her sister, Mackie Sutton of Plano, Texas. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews: Ellie, Julianne, Shaughn, Patrick, Michael, Lili, Eevi, Liam, Ira and Kare, and by a dear friend she considered a sister, Anna. Megan leaves behind friends she considered family and her adored pets Buddha, Harmony, Ziggy and P-Flash.

Those who knew Megan know she did not pass through this world quietly. Though hearts ache in her absence, her family finds comfort imagining her reunion with those she loved deeply: her beautiful mother Elinor, sweet dogs Foxie and Nicki and the many beloved animals she spoiled and cherished throughout her life.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has reached out with kindness, prayers, stories and support during this difficult time. A celebration of Megan’s life will be held later, with details to be shared soon.
