Community’s collective generosity breaks record

Communities Foundation of Texas’ 18th annual North Texas Giving Day in support of local nonprofits officially surpassed last year’s fundraising totals in comparison to midnight the year prior.

As midnight approached on September 17, 94,700 North Texans gave more than $76 million to more than 3,300 local nonprofits, representing 25 cause areas from education, health and social services, to arts, the environment and animal welfare. 

Looking back at North Texas Giving Day 2025, at midnight on September 18, a record-breaking $74.2 million in donations were made by 94,000 givers to 3,300 local nonprofits. In the days that followed, additional donations were received and processed, bringing the North Texas Giving Day 2025 total as of September 30 to $78 million donated by more than 100,000 generous givers.

The total raised since North Texas Giving Day’s inception in 2009 is now $788 million, cementing the community’s long-standing dedication to making a difference in support of thousands of nonprofits across the region. 

“North Texas Giving Day is a celebration of what makes North Texas so special, people coming together to support the causes and nonprofits that make our communities stronger. North Texans once again showed the extraordinary power of collective generosity,” said Wayne White, president and CEO of Communities Foundation of Texas. “We are grateful for each individual, family and business who gave through North Texas Giving Day this year. Every dollar donated makes a world of a difference in our corner of the world and has a lasting impact on local nonprofits and the communities they serve.” 

As the largest regional fundraising event in the nation, North Texas Giving Day empowers every person to give back to their community by supporting local nonprofits through donations. 

The City of Dallas demonstrated a shared commitment to local philanthropy by issuing a proclamation recognizing September 17, 2026, as NORTH TEXAS GIVING DAY. The proclamation reflects the collective dedication to inspiring giving and uplifting nonprofits across the region.

This year, presenting sponsor Amazon surprised 15 different participating nonprofits with generous gifts to support their North Texas Giving Day fundraising campaigns. 

“North Texas Giving Day is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when communities come together,” said Vickie Yakunin, Amazon’s head of community affairs in Texas. “For six years, Amazon has supported North Texas Giving Day and the thousands of nonprofits doing vital work across our region. Our support doesn’t stop at our presenting sponsorship. Each year, it brings us great joy to surprise nonprofits across North Texas with donations toward their Giving Day goals and to champion the work they do in our communities.” 

Communities Foundation of Texas, alongside sponsors like Amazon and generous givers, covers transaction and technology fees so that 100 percent of every tax-deductible donation made on NorthTexasGivingDay.org goes directly to local nonprofits. 

Gifts can be made to nonprofits through North Texas Giving Day year-round. NorthTexasGivingDay.org serves as a year-round, one-stop shop for supporting causes that make North Texas a better place for all. 

Next year’s North Texas Giving Day will be September 16, 2027.
