A poet by any other name would smell as sweet

Every two years, a local poet is honored with the title of Dallas Poet Laureate to recognize a career in writing exemplary poetry and their role in sharing poetry with the greater community. The search is now open for the second poet laureate, who will hold the office from April 2024-March 2026. Throughout the course of their two-year term, the poet laureate will work with the Express Yourself! Youth Poetry Competition, organize literary workshops and classes at libraries and other sites, and present public readings of original works created for those events, among other duties. The Dallas Poet Laureate receives an honorarium, a publishing contract with Deep Vellum Publishing and an office in the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library. Applications are being accepted now through December 15. For more information, visit dallaslibrary.org.
