Big birthday bash set for Dec. 19

An annual event of festive cheer means someone’s birthday is very near! Bernice Pearl Hooks Nicklas is celebrating 104 years on December 23! A resident of Butler, Penn. for more than 70 years, Bernice moved to Dallas in 2015 to be near her daughter and son-in-law.

She continues to enjoy living at White Rock Court in the Lake Highlands area of Dallas. Granddaughter Elizabeth Madgwick and great grands, Teddy and Kate, visited in July. Her daughter, Carolyn, and son-in-law Tim, live quite near and visit frequently. Bernice attends church with them on Sunday and is able to go out to eat and for the occasional shopping trip. She received so many greetings last year from family, friends and new friends wishing her a happy birthday. Even a second cousin wrote a letter and included his phone number, so the family were able to talk with him and his wife by phone. An Open House gathering will be held at Whiterock Court the afternoon of December 19. Catching up on family and friends is always fun.
