Broiled Asparagus with Harissa Butter

12 ounces asparagus,

ends trimmed 

2 tablespoons olive oil

1/4 cup (1/2 stick) 

unsalted butter, at room temperature

2 tablespoons harissa 

1 tablespoon lemon juice


Heat broiler on high. Line a baking sheet with foil. In a large bowl, toss together asparagus and oil; season generously with salt. Spread asparagus into a single layer on prepared baking sheet. Broil until cooked and browned in spots, about 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, in a small bowl, stir together butter, harissa and lemon juice. Season with salt.In the same large bowl, toss together butter and hot asparagus until butter is melted and asparagus is coated. Transfer to a platter and drizzle with any butter left in the bowl.
