Dallas ISD Board of Trustees Dan Micciche, District 3

Opening doors through opportunity

Thank you, Dallas! On May 2, voters approved all four school bond propositions by over 70 percent. This is a powerful statement of support for our students and confidence in our educators.

Dallas ISD is the most improved and innovative district in the state. And thanks to you, all students will soon attend school in high-quality facilities that match those in suburban areas.

As the school year winds down, we begin to see the results of months, and years, of hard work begin to take shape.

Across Dallas ISD, those results are showing up in meaningful ways. They are reflected not just in report cards or test scores, but in the opportunities our students are earning and the paths they are beginning to build for themselves.

This year, more students than ever are graduating with industry-based certifications — real, tangible credentials that connect classroom learning to future careers. For the Class of 2024, 42 percent of students earned at least one certification, and 741 students earned Level 1 or Level 2 certificates, far surpassing the district’s goal, and the Class of 2026 should exceed these numbers.

Behind those numbers are students who are discovering their strengths, gaining confidence, and stepping into new possibilities, whether in healthcare, technology, engineering, or other high-demand fields. These experiences are helping students see that their future is not something distant, but something they are actively preparing for right now.

At the same time, we are seeing steady growth in college readiness. TSI readiness increased by eight percentage points, with 2,910 students meeting college readiness benchmarks. This is 640 more students than the previous year. That growth represents thousands of students who are now better prepared to take the next step into higher education with confidence.

Together, these milestones reflect a broader shift. Our students are not only completing their education, but they are also leaving our schools with direction, purpose, and options.

As we approach the end of the school year, I am proud of the direction we are moving. The progress we are seeing today is creating real opportunities for our students and opening doors that will shape their futures for years to come.
