The Dallas Mavericks announced on August 2, 2022 that the Mavs Foundation will grant $150,000 in emergency funding to nonprofits supporting those impacted by dangerous heat and rising costs of living for working families. The funds will support programs to donate AC units and cooling centers for Dallas’ record-breaking heat, organizations providing rent and utilities assistance and grants to support individuals with transportation to travel to work as gas costs rise. The funds are allocated from the Mavs Foundation’s Emergency Grant Fund for disaster relief, economic and pandemic relief and other emergency grants.
“The Mavs Foundation’s Emergency Fund was created in order to quickly respond to the ever-evolving needs of our communities,” said Katie Edwards, president of the Mavs Foundation. “We know this summer has been challenging for many individuals and we hope to address the danger of this Texas heat, as well as help those impacted by high gas and utilities costs to be sure they can continue to provide for their families.” — Mavs Foundation
