Flamenco celebration becoming neighborhood tradition

This spring, the sounds of guitar strings, rhythmic footwork and clapping hands will once again echo through East Dallas as Cocina Flamenca LIVE 2026 returns to the Latino Cultural Center for its third annual celebration. Taking place Saturday, April 18, from 4 to 8:30 p.m., the free, family friendly festival transforms the entire Latino Cultural Center campus into an immersive celebration of flamenco, Spanish cuisine and community connection.

Inspired by Spain’s famed La Feria de Sevilla, Cocina Flamenca LIVE invites neighbors from Lakewood, White Rock and throughout East Dallas to wander freely between indoor theaters and outdoor stages, experiencing flamenco in multiple settings. Performances unfold across the auditorium, Black Box theater and outdoor plaza, creating a lively atmosphere that feels both intimate and expansive.

One of the most anticipated new additions this year is a free Salsa Flamenco Style dance class at 5 p.m., held inside the Latino Cultural Center’s Black Box theater and led by acclaimed visiting artist Nélida Tirado. Open to all levels, the class offers festivalgoers the opportunity to step into the movement themselves. Space is limited, and advance registration is recommended.

The festival’s schedule keeps energy flowing throughout the afternoon and evening. Highlights include performances by Flamenkitos inside the auditorium, guitar showcases and dance presentations on the outdoor stage, and appearances by local and regional artists such as Sabor Flamenco, Michael Carrasco and Len Bernett. The mix of artists reflects the living, evolving nature of flamenco and its strong roots in both tradition and community.

Food is central to the Cocina Flamenca LIVE experience. Guests can enjoy freshly prepared paella made on site in chicken, seafood or vegan versions, along with Campero de Málaga, an Andalusian style sandwich offered with jamón serrano or a vegetarian option. Paella can be purchased on site or pre ordered for easy pickup during the festival, making it easy to dine while enjoying the music.

The evening culminates with Fiesta Flamenca XII, a ticketed, one hour indoor performance held in the auditorium from 7 to 8 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.). The finale brings together internationally recognized artists including bailaoras Nélida Tirado and Carmen Montes, known as “La Chispa,” with master guitarists Ricardo Sanchez and Juanis de la Isla, and José Cortes on cante. Beloved Dallas artist Maestro Antonio Arrebola of Flamenco DNA also takes the stage, tying the program directly to the local flamenco community. Produced by The Flame Foundation, Cocina Flamenca LIVE has quickly become a spring tradition in East Dallas, blending high level artistry with an approachable, neighborhood friendly format. Admission to the festival is free, with tickets for Fiesta Flamenca XII priced at $35, or $50 with a paella pre order.
