Friends opens in Dallas

Veteran nonprofit leader Sharon Carson (pictured) has been named executive director of Friends of the Children – Dallas, leading the launch of the organization’s 43rd chapter nationwide and its expansion into North Texas. Friends of the Children is a nationally recognized nonprofit dedicated to breaking the cycle of generational poverty through long-term, professional mentoring. Unlike traditional volunteer-based programs, Friends pairs children facing the greatest systemic obstacles with paid, trained professional mentors – called “Friends” – who commit to working with each child from kindergarten through high school graduation.
