Martha Jo McAfee Hinkle

Martha Jo McAfee Hinkle of Dallas, Texas, 93, passed away peacefully in her home Tuesday, May 7, surrounded by her daughters Carla, Leisa and Laura.

Martha was born November 25, 1930, in Sherman, Texas to Carl and Allean McAfee. Martha grew up and graduated from Trenton High School in 1948. She married Grady Hinkle October 21, 1948. Martha and Grady made their home in Dallas, raising their three daughters. She attended Garland Road Church of Christ and Trenton Church of Christ in Trenton, Texas. Martha worked as a secretary with Mobil Oil, was a Sunday school teacher for many years, and received a Lifetime Award from the PTA. Martha was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Allean, husband Grady Hinkle, and grandchildren Ryan Sullivan and Amanda Sullivan.

Martha is survived by daughters Carla (Curt) Christensen of Eufaula, Ala., Leisa Hinkle of Dallas, Laura Whitter of Dallas; grandchildren Eric Whitter and wife JoAnn Henry, Heather Smith, Jessica Sullivan, Colleen Smith and husband Travis; great grandchildren Ashley Husman, Aidan Sullivan, Carlie Smith, Mitchell Smith, MaKenzie Sullivan and Keagan Spruill; great great grandchildren Josiah Bradley and J’Niyah Bradley; and sister-in-law Lee Ann Hinkle.

Graveside service was held on Tuesday, May 14 at Burns Cemetery in Trenton, Texas with Robert Stephenson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trenton Church of Christ, P.O.
