International Society honors musicians with scholarships

The International Society held a “Spring Fling” cocktail and dinner party at the Park City Club on Friday, May 1. The Mayday celebration honored two SMU scholarship winners with $2000 each. Suyi Wu is a piano performance major from Shenzhen, China, and Marcello Echavarria is a percussion performance, theater and film major from Monterey, Mexico. Both students are attending SMU Meadows School of the Arts. Since 2022, the International Society has given $11,500 in scholarship. Music was provided by Dave Tanner, who gave a history of American patriotic songs to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States. — Pat Bear
