Dallas CASA Parade of Playhouses is July 14-30 at NorthPark Center. Presented by Crest Auto Group with KDC as grand marshal, the event will showcase 14 custom-made imaginative children’s playhouses. The playhouses are free to see, and for a chance to win one, purchase raffle tickets, which benefit children living in foster care, at tables throughout NorthPark or at DallasCASA.org. Raffle tickets are $5 each or five/$20. Playhouse designs for this year’s event include a golf-themed playhouse, a spaceship, a yellow sub, Hobbit House, an old-school movie theater and a design inspired by The Quadrangle. The Dallas Mavs are building a shoe-themed playhouse, and there are also playhouses inspired by a Dilbeck turret and the artist Mondrian. Dallas CASA trains and supervises community members to serve as advocates for children who have experienced abuse or neglect and are living in the protective care of the state. For many children in foster care, their Dallas CASA volunteer is the only consistent, caring adult during a frightening time. — Rosanne Lewis
