Flamenco Fever presents the seventh annual Oak Cliff Flamenco Festival on September 6-11. Flamenco, a riveting combination of music and dance, is the focus of this weeklong festival featuring heart pounding percussion, lightning-fast footwork, and vibrant song and guitar technique. Together, they convey the passion and a constantly changing interpretation of life that is the essence of flamenco. The Grand Finale of the Festival will include Julia Alcántara’s original choreography for “Solo Quiero Caminar” by Jorge Pardo. Pardo was proclaimed the “Greatest Living Artist” by the French Academy of Jazz, won Spain’s National Prize for Current Music in 2015, and recently won a Grammy for his contribution to Chick Corea’s Best Latin Jazz Album “Antidote.” The Oak Cliff Flamenco Festival will feature internationally renowned artists including dancers Julia Alcántara (Texas) Jorge Robledo (Argentina) Alejandro Vega (Spain) and Melissa Cruz (California), cantaor Alejandor Vega (Spain) and Guitarist Kris “El Cuervo” (Arizona).
