Scouts cook up win

From Staff Reports

In a remarkable feat of camaraderie and culinary prowess, St. Thomas Aquinas’ Boy Scouts Troop 43 emerged victorious, securing the coveted “Best in Show” Trophy at the annual STA Knights of Columbus Fall Food Festival held this past Saturday.

Troop 43 braved “chili” temperatures, as they competed against dozens of “well-seasoned” competitors in a friendly yet spirited cooking competition, proceeds of which benefit the St. Vincent de Paul Society, offering aid to our neighbors in need.

The Scout booths drew a steady stream of visitors throughout the evening, eager to sample their culinary masterpieces: PLC Tanner’s World-Famous, Award-Winning Campfire Chili; Dutch Oven Pulled Pork; and Dutch Oven Smores Cake.

Scoutmaster Chuck Kobdish, beaming with pride, expressed his happiness in the troop’s accomplishment, emphasizing the collaboration that went into their winning entries. “This victory is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our scouts and parents alike. Great recipes alone will not win,” he said. “Service with a smile goes a long way. While greeting visitors, the scouts exemplified the Scout Law, by being helpful, courteous, friendly and kind. I could not be any prouder of our troop.”

Troop 43 looks forward to defending their title next November.
