Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) will host the 25th Older Americans Month Information & Health Fair on Thursday, May 16, at Centennial Hall in Fair Park, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The annual event is one of the largest held in North Texas.
This year’s theme, “Connect, Create, Contribute,” encourages older adults and their communities to connect with friends, family and services that support participation; create by engaging in activities that promote learning, health and personal enrichment; and contribute time, talent and life experience to benefit others. Community partners supporting the fair this year include the City of Dallas, Dallas Police Department, Community Council, Baylor Scott & White Health and Wellness Center and The Senior Source.
The free event showcases businesses and public services of special interest to older adults, caregivers and families plus provides health screenings, entertainment, giveaways and more. Seniors are encouraged to save on parking and ride DART’s Green Line directly to Fair Park Station. Passengers who show their valid pass at the event will receive a special prize. The center or organization that brings the most seniors on DART will also be recognized.
