St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church continues its Love One Another Speaker Series focusing on anti-racism, diversity and inclusion. “We are excited to present this series to shine the light on local artists and community leaders who are working daily to fight racism and bring unity to the Dallas community,” said Rev. Rob Leischner, pastor of St. Andrew’s.

First, on February 6 Dallas artist Daniel Gunn will speak about the mural he created on the steps of the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, which recognized the major contributions of local and national African American scientists to the STEM field. Gunn will talk about his journey as an artist and will show his paintings and other works.

On February 20 Dallas ISD dance instructor Iris Wesley Wyatt will talk about her vision to create a dance video filmed at Fair Park to the music of “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” Wyatt will discuss the making of the video with dancers from each Dallas ISD high school and will talk about what the anthem means to her.

The speaker series begins at 5 p.m. at the church located at 3204 Skillman St. at Monticello Ave.

The series is partially funded by a grant from Whitworth University, which also funded the Love One Another outdoor mural by local artist Nick Anderson, unveiled in November 2021. Previous speakers in January included leaders of Lake Highlands Area Mothers Against Racism (LHAMAR) and David Bell, past president of the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum.
