Tammy Louise Howard passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026, in Mesquite, Texas, with her loving husband by her side, leaving behind a lifetime of love, kindness and cherished memories.

Tammy was born on November 13, 1959, in Dallas, Texas, to James and Edna Petton. She spent nearly all of her life in the Dallas area, with the exception of a brief but fondly remembered time living in Alaska.

Tammy was a woman who found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. She loved gardening, watching tennis, and had a lifelong affection for animals and pets. She especially loved the mountains and treasured vacations that gave her the opportunity to enjoy their beauty. Her time in Alaska held a special place in her heart and reflected her love of nature and the outdoors.

Tammy had a generous heart and a gentle, caring spirit. She was always doing something for someone else, whether through a thoughtful gesture, lending a helping hand, or simply being there when someone needed her. Giving came naturally to Tammy, and her soft and loving ways brought comfort and warmth to those around her.

Perhaps one of Tammy’s greatest gifts was her ability to look for the joy in every situation. Even during life’s more difficult moments, she found something to appreciate and a reason to be grateful. Her kindness, generosity and optimism touched many lives, and throughout her life she was blessed with many dear friends.

Above all, Tammy loved her family. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Kelly Howard of Mesquite, Texas, and a loving mother to her children, Rachel Kay Rogers of Utah and James Marshall Dolly of Dallas, Texas. She was also a beloved grandmother and great-grandmother. Tammy loved deeply, gave freely, and found great joy in the people she held closest to her heart.

Tammy will be remembered for her kind heart, her gentle nature, her generosity, her love of family and animals, and the quiet way she made people feel cared for. The love and joy she brought into the lives of others will remain a lasting part of her legacy, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. A service honoring Tammy’s life was be held at Restland Funeral Home on Friday, Aug. 28. She will be deeply loved, greatly missed and never forgotten. Rest peacefully, Tammy. Your love will remain with us always.
