What have artists been up to in these quarantine months and strange times? Has making art been especially important? Were unexpected perks the quieter days with less distraction? How about new inspiration? Ask artists these questions and more in person. Join with others for the 2021 White Rock Lake Artists’ Studio Tour on Oct. 15 and 16 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
You’ll find countless art practices and media, different styles and themes. Also see unique studio environments, a particular focus of the tour. The tour has grown into a well-loved annual tradition for art enthusiasts, students and teachers. The tour is self-guided, free and open to all ages.
The focus is on artists who live and work in neighborhoods near White Rock Lake. The tour this year includes more than 30 artists and three art center/schools. Mark your calendar to visit the artists, see work in varied stages, talk with artists about ideas, processes and see the materials they use. Some have demonstrations during the tour hours. Explore neighborhood places where art happens, where art comes alive thru the hands and mind and heart of artists.
This popular art event is located in neighborhoods that surround White Rock Lake. The area is east of downtown Dallas and is known for its natural beauty, native forests and historic city lake. Visit artists in their studios and learn first-hand why the area is a haven for visual artists.
In 1992 on a fall weekend, six artists in the White Rock Lake area opened their studios to the public. That humble beginning has continued and grown while providing a rewarding experience for art enthusiasts of all ages.
The mission of the Tour is to open connections and understanding about art and artists who work in our community.
