Yoga studio offers grief support

By Jennifer Foster

YAM, a dedicated partner in applying yoga to emotional as well as physical wellness, announced its partnership with Nancy Watson (griefyogadallas.com) to launch Yoga for Grief and Loss. This collaboration aims to provide a supportive space for individuals to explore how yoga can aid in navigating the complex emotions associated with grief and loss whether it be the loss of a loved one, the mysterious loss of a friendship, the unexpected loss of a job or a failed romantic partnership.

The introductory session, scheduled for April 21, offers participants a 90-minute overview of how yoga can facilitate the process of moving through grief and loss. Lead by Watson, the session will include gentle movement practices, suitable for all levels, along with discussions on yogic philosophy, journaling and guided meditation.

Watson has been a yoga practitioner for almost 25 years, having received her certification in both RYT-200 as well as chair yoga. After a traumatic loss in 2019, it was yoga (and her yoga community) that Watson credits with saving her. Upon learning about the Compassionate Bereavement Care Yoga certification program, she enrolled and became the only certified CBC-Y certified yoga teacher in the Dallas area.

For those seeking solace and healing amid loss, these classes offer a sanctuary where mind, body and spirit can find peace and restoration. For more information or to register, visit yoga-art-music.com or email [email protected].
