From Staff Reports
For 20 rocking years, Dallas has chosen Marc Solomon and Amy Curnow’s Zounds Sounds School of Music as the training ground for generations of musicians. The track record speaks for itself. Next month, those 20 years will culminate in a gigantic three-day music festival, bringing together hundreds of alumni, families and music fans to benefit Way Into Music, a 501(c)(3) music education nonprofit.

Buoying his success from rock bands like Perfect and his eponymous Solly, Marc Solomon founded Zounds Sounds out of his garage in 2005. Quickly, it became known as a hotbed for the past, present and future of Dallas music, expanding to a brick-and-mortar location in 2006 and growing the next generation of rock stars.
Solomon also founded Way Into Music, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that focuses on providing quality music education and instruments to those who can’t afford it, while also providing fair wages to the music teaching community.
In 2025, the Zounds Sounds song remains the same, but even bigger. Lessons continue every day, but the school’s Lake Highlands location also allows for weekend live shows at the in-house venue, Zounds Sounds B-Side, and a studio recording setup, allowing for a full music industry gauntlet for young students.
For the grand 20th anniversary, the company is celebrating in the only way they know how — by throwing a three-day music festival with a lineup that includes teacher and student alumni, Dallas music legends, current Zounds Sounds students and a variety of other immersive activities.
The event is on November 21-22 at Sons of Hermann Hall and November 23 at Zounds Sounds, B-Side. For tickets, visit zoundssoundsbside.org/zounds20.
