The new construction on the Bath House Cultural Center started in May 2020. The architects, Architexas, and contractor, Nedderman and Associates, made significant improvements to the 1930 southwestern style art deco building.

The main level has new bathrooms, a new box office and kitchen, and a new work room. The lake level has a new bathroom, dressing room, new lighting and new floors. The most visual change is to the outside with two new handicap accessible walkways allowing access to the lake level. The Master Gardener team for the Bath House Pollinator Garden landscaped two large flower beds on each side of the building.

There is a large patio to accommodate outside performances.

District 9 Council Member Paula Blackmon, and Director of the Office of Arts and Culture Jennifer Scripps cut the ribbon. The Herbie Johnson Quartet will be providing music courtesy of the City of Dallas Community Artist Program.

Blackmon said: “I am thrilled, that despite a year of budget cuts, the $1.5 million bond project at the Bath House is completed. Maintaining and improving this cultural center helps provide valuable access to the arts throughout our community while enjoying the natural beauty of White Rock Lake.”

Park and Recreation District 9 Board Member Maria Hasbany added: “The Park and Recreation Department is thrilled about the recent updates and improvements to the Bath House Cultural Center.

“White Rock Lake Park has many beautiful and historic buildings, and the Bath House has always stood out as the crowning jewel of this collection. We will continue to work together with the Office of Arts and Culture and the Friends of the Bath House to promote and utilize this amazing building and location for the best benefit of our community and all of Dallas!”
