The eagles have landed at area lake

White Rock Lake Weekly reader Adam Velte took this spectacular shot of two bald eagles at White Rock Lake. The pair have been seen enjoying the fish at the lake for a couple weeks now. This shot was taken on Monday, Oct. 11 down a few trees from Stone Tables, a good omen to the newly remodeled picnic area and playground. Velte’s photographer friend Martha Taylor had spotted them, and now the unique and beautiful pair of eagles have names. The female on the left has been named by area photographer Ralph DiFronzo as Nora, and Nick is on the right — beak open with something to say as Nora watches closely. Follow the eagles on Instagram and also join the Facebook group “White Rock Lake That’s My Hood,” which has more than five thousand members. Velte manages The Green Spot on Buckner Blvd., up the road from the Bath House Cultural Center. The Green Spot is featured in Texas Monthly this month as a dining destination hidden in a gas station with healthy convenience foods. Velte offers printed pictures for sale of his photographs of White Rock Lake landscape, wildlife and sailing regattas, which are hanging on display at The Green Spot. Congratulations, Adam!
