Communities Foundation of Texas’ 14th North Texas Giving Day presented by Amazon closed out its annual 18-hour day of giving, with more than $62 million raised by givers near and far. More than 94,000 donors rallied together for more than 3,200 participating nonprofits across a 20-county region.
“We are honored to serve as a catalyst for giving, and we are in awe of the thousands of people that fuel North Texas Giving Day,” said Dave Scullin, president and CEO of Communities Foundation of Texas.
“We are thrilled with the millions of dollars that we raised for more than 3,200 nonprofits this year that will do a tremendous amount of good for our community. While everyone hopes to raise more money than the year before, our primary goal is to elevate and celebrate the spirit of giving in general.”
Communities Foundation of Texas founded North Texas Giving Day 14 years ago to provide an easy way for everyone to support their community by donating to local nonprofits. Throughout the years, North Texas Giving Day has also become a platform to build the capacity of the nonprofit sector by providing fundraising tools and training support. This year the site served as a portal for givers to “find their passion and give with purpose.”
This year’s total brings the cumulative amount raised to more than $500 million since North Texas Giving Day launched in 2009. This year, gifts were received from all 50 states and 41 countries. The event was preceded by 21 days of early giving that included concerts, community events, festivals and more to mark the giving extravaganza.
The full list of this year’s results (sortable by organization name, total gifts or total dollars) is listed at northtexasgivingday.org/giving-events/ntx22/leaderboards. Individual nonprofits’ dollars raised do not include bonus and prize funds. (Bonus funds refer to the incentive pool that helps donations go further on North Texas Giving Day. Bonus funds are not a dollar-for-dollar match and all gifts up to $10,000 are eligible for bonus funds. Prizes include randomly drawn, hourly Golden Tickets, geographic and cause-related prizes, rewards for having the most donors and more.)
Results on the website are subject to final review and verification. Updated totals will be available after October 31.
“Amazon aims to leverage our scale for the good of the communities where our employees live and work, and North Texas Giving Day gives us an avenue to do just that by investing in a day that not only propels the missions of thousands of nonprofits, but also elevates the spirit of giving so that the impact continues long past the one-day event,” said Vickie Yakunin, Amazon’s head of community affairs in North Texas. “We are proud to invest in a movement that celebrates giving back locally.”
