The SPCA of Texas announces a $5 individual registration discount for the 18th annual Strut Your Mutt, The Race to End Animal Cruelty, presented by VCA Animal Hospitals. The “Lucky Dog” discount (use code LUCKYDOG) runs through 11:59 p.m. Friday, March 17 for the family-friendly event, which will be Saturday, April 15 at Fair Park (3809 Grand Ave., Dallas, 75210). Day of Event registration begins at 7 a.m. at Cotton Bowl Plaza, with the 5K timed race starting at 8 a.m. and the 3K fun run/walk taking off at 8:10 a.m.
The goal of Strut Your Mutt is to raise awareness about animal cruelty and abuse in North Texas. Funds raised from this year’s Race to End Cruelty will support the SPCA of Texas’ critical work in the community, including the Animal Cruelty Investigations Unit’s work to prevent and prosecute animal cruelty and pay for the veterinary care services the medical teams provide to animals rescued out of abuse situations.
Discounted registration cost for the 5K race is $35 and for the 3K walk is $30 (with code LUCKYDOG); kids age 11 and under are free. Participants can register individually or as a team at gostrut.org, and will receive a goody bag filled with a Strut T-shirt, pet bandana, dog toy and dog treats.
Participants are welcome to bring their furry friends to strut along with them. Food trucks will be on site, and the Kid’s Corral and Post PAWty will bring fun for kids and adults alike. The Race to End Cruelty also features the Bow Wow Bazaar — approximately 40 vendors catering to animals and their humans. The Bazaar runs from 8-11 a.m. in the Fair Park Tower building.
