Chamber helps Dallas Academy celebrate

Last May, donors and life-long friends of Head of School Elizabeth Murski raised $250,000 towards a new state-of-the-art playground at Dallas Academy in East Dallas. With partnership from the Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce, Dallas Academy celebrated the opening of the new playground, Brawler’s Backyard, with a ribbon cutting event.  The new playground features a shade structure, new ground covering and all new playground equipment, including a special sensory wall for students to enjoy.

“Dallas Academy is thankful for the gift of this wonderful playground for the students of Dallas Academy. This is truly a community collaboration and wouldn’t have been possible without the help of donors who believe that our students deserve a new and engaging area where they can run around and play,” Elizabeth Murski said. The ribbon cutting was a wonderful event highlighted by perfect weather, upbeat music, new and familiar faces, and snow cone treats.  It was a time for families and friends to be together, to celebrate and enjoy time with our community.

Founded in 1965, Dallas Academy is the oldest school in Texas to work exclusively with students with learning differences and offers a structured, multisensory program for students to achieve success both in and out of the classroom. Every student on campus is known by all teachers, making it easy for students to be encouraged, praised, and guided toward achieving their goals.
