Winners celebrated with cocktail party

Each year, the Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce recognizes the top educators in East Dallas schools, K-12, who are providing outstanding education for their respective students. Recipients of this award have made significant contributions toward innovative, unique and progressive programs that are serving to improve and promote learning. The awards are given to public and private elementary, middle and high schools in the East Dallas area. The six Teacher of the Year Award winners were chosen from numerous nominations. The 2025 winners, (pictured above) are: Chad Burrus, Solar Preparatory School for Girls; Shatavia Reeves, W. H. Gaston Middle School; Daniel Forsythe, Bryan Adams High School Leadership Academy; Laura Gigliotti, Lakehill Preparatory School; Nikki Morris, Dallas Academy; Cristi McCarty, Lakehill Preparatory School. The winners were recognized at a cocktail reception on May 14 at the Lakewood Country Club. Each awardee received $250 along with an award plaque, and their school also received $250. — Deborah Brown
