The Woodrow Wilson Girls swim team recently competed in the Region 5A swim meet in Lewisville and walked away with an overall second place team finish. Seven members of the Woodrow team finished 1st or 2nd in their events to qualify for the State meet in Austin this month. Qualifying team members included Irina Starostin in the 100-meter fly and 500-meter freestyle and Helen Agee in 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter backstroke. All three of Woodrow’s relay teams also qualified for State with the 200-meter and 400-meter freestyle teams finishing 1st, and the 200-medley team finishing second. The 200-meter freestyle consisted of Noelle Martinez, Helen Agee, Katherine Chauza, and Macie Burgard, the 400-meter freestyle consisted of Noelle Martinez, Helen Agee, Abbie Giles and Irina Starostin; the 200 meter medley consisted of Riley Daniel, Katherine Chauza, Helen Agee and Irina Starostin.
