The Bath House Cultural Center celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Festival of Independent Theatres (FIT) in 2018. The festival was founded in 1998 as an effort to aid local theater companies without a permanent performance space.
The festival features eight companies with one-act plays, paired in two-show blocks. The shows are presented in rotating repertory from July 13 to Aug. 4.
The festival features performances by: Camp Death Productions, DGDG (Danielle Georgiou Dance Group), Eccentric Bear Theatre Co., Echo Theatre, Imprint Theatreworks, Laughter League, Prism Movement Theater and WingSpan Theatre Co.
In addition to the eight main stage productions, the festival also includes the art exhibitions Revived with Light: An Exploration of Expired Photographic Media and Road Trip – Photographic Journeys of the Dead Photographers Society, as well as a variety of live music presented on selected weekend afternoons in the Bath House art gallery and live music and light refreshments on weekend evenings in the Bath House’s shore level performance space, FIT Underground.
The festival runs from July 13-August 4 at the Bath House Cultural Center, 521 E. Lawther Dr., 75218.
The Festival of Independent Theatres is sponsored by the Bath House Cultural Center, the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs and the Texas Commission on the Arts.
