Boy Scouts of Troop 43 returned to defend their title at the St. Thomas Aquinas Fall Food Festival on Saturday, Nov. 9 benefitting St. Vincent de Paul.
This annual culinary clash, hosted by the Knights of Columbus, drew fierce competition, but Troop 43 took home the “Stanley Cup of Cuisine” for a second consecutive year. Not only did they score the Best in Show trophy, but they clinched podium spots in three out of four categories, proving they’re all that and a bag o’ chips:
• First Place Side Dish: Scout David’s Baked Truffle Mac ’n’ Cheese to Please — serving up refined elegance, David said, “Pasta la Vista” to the competition.
• Second Place Meat: Eagle Scout Charlie’s Dutch Oven Pulled Pork was a savory slam dunk that left fans bacon for more.
• Third Place Dessert: Clearly demonstrating command of his dough-main, Scout Will’s Magic Cookie Bars brought a healthy heapin’ of smiles to the sweet tooth category.
Troop 43 left it all on the field with their A-Game Customer Service, warmly welcoming visitors to their table and sharing the play-by-play on how these dishes can be whipped up around the campfire. Being crowned Grand Champions of Grub once is impressive, but two years in a row? Well, that’s just the crème de la crème. Clearly, these scouts have the winning recipe for success.
Widely considered the greatest dynasty in sports, the New York Yankees have won 27 World Series Championships.
Food for thought, as Troop 43’s Culinary Champions of Camp Cuisine start cooking up their game plan for next year’s three-peat, building on a dynasty of their own!
