With a call for Texas women artists, Texas Vignette will soon open submissions for the Vignette Art Fair, which returns Sept. 30-Oct. 3 at On The Levee in the Dallas Design District (1108 Quaker St., Dallas, TX 75207).
In its eighth year, the juried event showcases works exclusively by women artists, spotlighting and supporting exceptional yet often underrepresented talent across the state. Alison de Lima Greene, the Isabel Brown Wilson Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH), will serve as the 2026 curator.

The fair is free and open to the public Oct. 2-3, with two ticketed preview opportunities: a new Patron Welcome Dinner Sept. 30 and a Preview Benefit Oct. 1.
The Vignette Art Fair is unique in that it is fully submission-based, curated in an exhibition-style setting, and solely spotlights the work of women artists. Most significantly, 100 percent of all sales proceeds go directly to the artists.
“At its core, Vignette Art Fair is about creating meaningful visibility for women artists across Texas,” said Jessica Ingle, founder and president of Texas Vignette. “Each year, we build on that by expanding our reach and exposure to both artists and attendees. Working with a curator from Houston is an important part of that evolution, and I can think of few more knowledgeable about Texas art than Alison de Lima Greene, who brings a genuine sensitivity to artists and their work.”
For more than four decades, Greene has been a leading voice on MFAH’s curatorial staff. Her work has shaped major exhibitions ranging from retrospectives of Tamara de Lempicka, Mark Rothko and Philip Guston to immersive collaborations with artists Yayoi Kusama, Pipilotti Rist and Anicka Yi. Greene has also worked with many Texas artists on solo exhibitions at the MFAH and authored the book, Texas: 150 Works from the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, in 2000.
“Every exhibition is a voyage of discovery, for the organizers and the participating artists,” said Greene. “The Vignette Art Fair occupies a unique position in Texas, offering a platform for fresh dialogues among women artists, while inviting viewers the opportunity to explore, to look more closely, and to consider and reconsider the state we’re in.”
Founded in 2017, Texas Vignette seeks to bridge the gender disparity gap, as women artists continue to be underrepresented in museum exhibitions, acquisitions and gallery representation compared to their male counterparts. In recent years, works by women artists have accounted for only 10-15 percent of total auction sales globally, while representation in major galleries across North America and Europe remains similarly limited.
Participants must identify as a woman and be a current Texas resident. Submission requirements include an artist statement, bio, CV, exhibition history, and a link to the artist’s website and/or Instagram handle.
Vignette Art Fair will be open with free admission Friday, Oct. 2, from noon-7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. In addition, a limited number of tickets will be available for purchase to the Patron Welcome Dinner on Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 6-9 p.m., featuring an exclusive first-look experience with a seated dinner and wine pairing. Guests can also purchase tickets to the Preview Benefit on Thursday, Oct. 1, from 6-9 p.m., which features meet-and-greets with the artists and curator, music, light bites and an open bar.
