Couple dedicated to lake

At the recent For the Love of the Lake (FTLOTL) celebration of 25 (plus one!) years, President Z. Zohar (pictured with the couple) and the FTLOTL board awarded Ben and Jean Andresen a newly created honor — Volunteers of the Decade! Since the inception of the Second Saturday Shoreline Spruce-Ups in April 1996, with no fuss nor fanfare expected, the Andresens have made sure the six metal signs to let people know details of the upcoming event magically appear around the lake the week before each Spruce-Up, and then, just as stealthily, are removed immediately after it’s over. They’ve now done this important task more than 300 times! — Marci Novak
